Art Institute of California San Francisco Fashion Show 2012 Review
It was a bittersweet affair at Art Institute of California San Francisco Fashion Show 2012 on Saturday, June 16 at SF Design Center. On one hand, the talented students brought out great fashion at “What’s Next, Are You Ready To Wear” student fashion show, as expected. On the other hand, it was Bo Breda’s last student fashion show participation as the Academic Department Director of Fashion Design of AIC-SF.
Nevertheless, it was a successful fashion show production that promised new exciting direction for soon-to-be-emerging fashion designers of AIC-SF.

Over the past three years, fafafoom has been fortunate to see the diverse, energetic emerging talents that AIC-San Francisco Fashion School produces. Art Institute of California San Francisco Fashion Lineup Spring 2011 Review
I was looking forward for the Art Institute of California – San Francisco’s spring fashion show since early this year, and this year’s presentation of Art Institute of California Fashion Lineup really highlighted great talents and creative concepts. The fact that four of the six winners of the night were the ones doing the Independent Fashion Show back in April also really (somehow) made me very proud of them :)
The fashion show production was as professional as ever (kudos to all of the production crew; job well done!) and the three judges this year were Bacca da Silva, Angela Medlin, and Joseph Domingo. I do agree completely with their winner picks; all six of them are fully noted here.

Constituent Parts Fashion Show, April 28, 2011 Review
Phew! What a week! And it’s Friday again! Anyway, based on the WordPress stats, it’s very clear to me that a great deal of fafafoom readers want to see this post coming :) Well, I hope I don’t disappoint.
111 Minna Gallery is quite a cool place to have an intimate fashion show in, although I have to wonder why some of the female models walked too carefully. At this point, I’m not sure if it’s just their walking style or slippery floor. But it’s truly an eye-opener in a sense that when you do intimate settings like this, everything becomes so much closer to the audience and any flaws / greatness in the garments, the models’ attitude / walk, and all that jazz become that much more noticeable. Still, overall, this fashion show was a success and congratulations for all the designers and everybody involved in this production! And I would say something about being on time (the show started at 40 minutes late), but I’m quite a tardy person myself, so I guess we all have something to work on :)
The show started rather slow, but it built up nicely until Autie Carlisle’s (shown above) collection.

Constituent Parts: Independent Fashion Show
Update: The Constituent Parts fashion show review is up!
I’m very excited to be coming to Constituent Parts / Independent Fashion Show this Thursday, April 28, 2011. Four of Art Institute of California – San Francicso fashion designers are breaking out from the pack and holding their own show: Autie Carlisle, Cameron Stewart, Justin Jamison, and Rachel Poulos.
When I reached out to the designers last week about their inspiration and goal for this event, Autie was really kind in representing all the designers by emailing me her response:
“Our inspiration for putting on this show was that we all have had part in other organizations and their fashion shows. Which is great, and has been, and will probably continue to be, helpful to us as it is alot less work for us individually, however, we felt it was time for us to present our own work the way we think it should be. We are all appreciating the ability to be quintessentially us in the music we choose, the hair/makeup, the style of walking, the venue, etc and that way we feel we are presenting a “collection” vs. being involved in a school show or the like.
Our aim is to have press there, of course, as we are new to entering the fashion industry we hope there could even be some potential job seekers out there. However, it is important to note that none of us are going into production with our lines yet, so these are all one offs and not meant for retail or buyers per say. The other side to this publication, and this may be more of a personal Autie side, is that we’ve all lived in the Bay Area for some time, and have been able to nurture our fashion dreams here, so to me, its a sort of giving back tot he art community. I feel that we’ve worked hard on learning our crafts (which will always continue!) and we’ve earned the right to say or give something back aesthetically and entertainment wise. So within that, alot of the people there will no doubt be friends, and family. “
I think it’s remarkable what these four are doing here. These four are VERY talented and I wish them the best of luck in bringing out San Francisco more in the fashion scene. And of course I’ll be covering the fashion show and will post my pictures and review soon after!

AIC San Francisco 2010 “United Streets of Fashion”
Last week on Saturday, June 19, 2010, I was very lucky happy to attend the Art Institute of California – San Francisco’s annual graduation fashion show “The United Streets of Fashion”. If last year I was very impressed with their Fashion Metamorphosis show, then this year I admire the students’ talent level more. The designs are exciting, unique, creative, and for the most part, well-constructed. Although the color palettes were not as colorful compared to last year’s (at least in my opinion), the students were successful in capturing the many faces of San Francisco fashion style.
