California College of the Arts 2013 Annual Fashion Show Review
I was skeptical when I first escaped the windy tunnel of 8th Street and went into the warmth of the California College of the Arts (CCA) building on May 17, 2013 around 6:40pm.
Once we’re inside, a woman that lost her way, whom I gladly helped to get inside the building to check-in asked, “Was it always this windy?”
“Oh yes,” I smiled, “it was windy last year too.”
The art exhibitions in the CCA building seemed to resemble construction work at times that I was momentarily confused whether the school is currently undergoing a renovation. But after seeing fashionable Amy Williams walking about seamlessly around and about the installations and towards the VIP reception at the back, all was fine in the world. I should not be surprised; CCA is the top school in the world for sustainable fashion education. No materials are off-limits, the students’ creativities are boundless and refreshing.
I very much loved CCA fashion show in 2012, so I had high expectation this year. Chris and I were not fans of the new T-shaped runway setup, and at the beginning we were concerned that the runway surface looked a bit “too much decorated with dust spots”. Seeing looks after looks coming and going on the runway, I was content but not very much impressed at first. Perhaps that runway shape really threw me off. But thank God for Chris’ pictures, because I finally saw the brilliance that the CCA students possess when I chose and edited those pictures on our iMac. Wow, the California College of the Arts 2013 Annual Fashion Show was truly amazing. When I started exporting those pictures from Lightroom, I was no longer a skeptic :)

California College of the Arts 2012 Graduate Fashion Show Review
The California College of the Arts 2012 Graduate Fashion Show was in full celebratory mood on May 11, 2012 at its San Francisco campus, 1111 8th St. Once again, the proud tent hosting “the best street level runway show” was filled with supportive, exuberant friends, families, and fashion lovers. It truly felt like a giant big, warm family (and I was so happy to see Cynthia & Simon from Style Wylde again!!!!). California College of the Arts (CCA) Fashion Design Chair Amy Williams touted the FashionSF initiative at the start of the runway, as is reminding us of the design level that we were about to see.
And gosh, what talents. It’s probably my favorite student fashion show ever so far, with innovative, creative, functional, AND beautiful designs after designs walking down the runway. Absolutely amazing; I was thoroughly impressed from beginning to end. The diversity of techniques, fabrics, motifs, silhouettes, colors…what a feast to the eyes. If only all fashion shows could be this exciting to watch and enjoy :)

California College of the Arts Annual Fashion Show 2011 Review
California College of the Arts (CCA) Fashion Design Chair Amy Williams said at the beginning of the show that it’s the school’s 13th annual fashion show, which interestingly was held on Friday, the 13th of May. Very exciting for me personally, because believe it or not, 13 is one of my lucky numbers :)
OK, let’s start the show, shall we? The show was jam-packed with students, parents, local press and media, as well as fashionistas that couldn’t wait what CCA students were about to present on the runway. I have to add though, everybody in the tent was so supportive and cheerful; every single look that was presented got warm applauses. Go CCA students!

California College of the Arts Fashion Show 2011: First Impression & Backstage
During my (close-to) 3 years I’ve been in the Bay Area, I never visited California College of the Arts (CCA) building even though I’ve been in the Potrero Hill area several times (for Chez Maman, whose owner scolded me once for eating the famous burger using my knife and fork).
So Friday, May 13 was my first time visiting the grand CCA building in the perhaps-not-so-friendly neighborhood. Turned the corner towards 8th St. and there it is in its glory. And just like the week before, it was windy as hell.
