Trying Denim on Denim look at Battery Boutelle
I’ve never been a fan of denim on denim look, although that particular trend always finds itself back year after year after year. Call me old-fashioned if you will, but denim on denim look is best suited for a person with solid physical stamina and strength, slaving under the sun daily at a gold mine somewhere.
Me? Well, let’s say I’m currently very much removed from that concept :) Therefore, I was ready to dismiss the entire thing once and for all.

San Francisco Fashion Week + Upcoming Bay Area Festivals
Can you believe it’s August already? That it’s only 5 more months until the end of 2011. INSANE. All the more reason to truly enjoy each moment, especially this nice mild summer weather :)
The month will start off (for me) with the Mélange Fashion Show on August 6, at San Francisco Design Center, 8 PM – 12 AM. This exciting show blends fashion, music, theater, and dance. I am so excited to be covering this show and can’t wait for the weekend to arrive already! OK, so much for that message at the beginning about “enjoying every moment” :)
One thing you definitely cannot miss this month is definitely the San Francisco Fashion Week, August 8 – 14. A week long celebration of local San Francisco fashion workshops, exhibits, and trunk shows, that are capped with three runway shows at the end of the week at Wix Lounge & Tent, 2601 Mission Street (at 22nd) 3rd Fl, San Francisco, CA:
Friday, August 12 – Emerging Designers (get tickets)
Saturday, August 13 – Ready to Wear (get tickets)
Sunday, August 14 – Avant Garde (get tickets)
Dress code is enforced, so if you’re coming from Outside Lands (for example), you perhaps want to carry a change of cocktail-party clothes :)
The week after that is Art & Soul Festival at Downtown Oakland, August 20 – 21, noon to 6 PM. I have a confession to make; I found out about this festival when one day I had this urge to listen to Five for Fighting and I was wondering when can I see John Ondrasik live. So I went to his official website and found out about this festival. Hurray! I’ll get to see him live AND go to a festival. How cool is that?
Over at New People, Japan Town, there’s a J-Pop Summit Festival 2011 going on August 27 – 28. Guys, as of right now they’re still looking to complete their fund goal, so head over to KickStarter to pledge your fund, make this event happen, and receive cool rewards for your good deeds! h. Naoto will also attend this event as a prelude to opening up his new flagship store in San Francisco this fall. Head over to Style Wylde to read Cynthia’s interview with this amazing Japanese designer.
And don’t forget that August 27 – 28 is also the chosen time slot for Palo Alto Festival at University Ave., 10 AM – 6 PM, whereas Sausalito Art Festival will be held at Marinship Park on September 3 – 5 (Labor Day Weekend). Am I getting ahead of myself? Maybe…..yes. Sure.
Whichever shows, festivals, or other celebrations you choose to go to this summer, I wish you have a heck of a good time. Enjoy this (sometimes) gorgeous summer weather.
Cheers,
Musank

Are You Coming to Alice Summerthing?
If there’s one thing that my friends from East Bay, San Francisco, Fremont, Peninsula, or South Bay all have in common, is that they all talk about Alice Summerthing concert this Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Golden Gate Park, noon to 4. And let’s not forget the 41st Annual Pride Parade this Saturday, shall we?
Now, I’m not sure if I can attend myself since I will be going to Yosemite National Park on Saturday, but I just think it’s not fair NOT to spread some last-minute buzz about it :)
Have a great weekend everyone,

Art Institute of California San Francisco Fashion Lineup Spring 2011 Review
I was looking forward for the Art Institute of California – San Francisco’s spring fashion show since early this year, and this year’s presentation of Art Institute of California Fashion Lineup really highlighted great talents and creative concepts. The fact that four of the six winners of the night were the ones doing the Independent Fashion Show back in April also really (somehow) made me very proud of them :)
The fashion show production was as professional as ever (kudos to all of the production crew; job well done!) and the three judges this year were Bacca da Silva, Angela Medlin, and Joseph Domingo. I do agree completely with their winner picks; all six of them are fully noted here.

Get Ready for Summer(thing) and Tofu Overdose
Goodness, it’s June already. What’s that? It’s the 10th already? Wow. If you thought 2010 was fast, then 2011 is blazing! Hope your year has been going great so far.
So , first thing first: if you haven’t signed up to Refinery 29, well, it’s time to do it because they’re now covering San Francisco! Yay!!! So excited, in not-so-Rebecca-Black way.
And if you’re a tofu lover, please do not miss this awesome First Annual Northern California Soy and Tofu Festival this Saturday, June 11 at Japan Town. I’m sure it’s going to be so fun! Plus, I’ve always loved Japan Town anyway. New People, Kinokuniya, Sophie’s Crepes, and all the food vendors that are going to be there.
AND! Get ready to go to Golden Gate Park on Sunday, June 26 because Alice Summerthing is here! If you like One Republic, Matt Nathanson, Michelle Branch, Parachute, or Andrew Allen, come on down from noon to 4 pm because it’s going to be a perfect summer concert opener.
