Fashion Mash-Up: Why Blog about Fashion

Posted on Nov 17, 2010 in Thoughts | 0 comments

I haven’t been able to come to this Fashion Mash-Up (one more reason why I want to live in the city), but I feel very inclined to spread the word, especially since the discussion will be about fashion blogging :)

SFFAMA, along with Fashion Blogger Connect, is going to hold another “Fashion Mash-Up: Fashion & Tech Workshop Series” event tomorrow night, Nov. 18, 2010, on 5:30-8:30pm at Pigment Cosmetics, One Market Street (Studio 2), San Francisco.
Admission is $5 for SFFAMA Ning members or $10 for Non-Members.

The speakers for tomorrow night’s event are:
1- Avalonne Summers – The Girl From Ldn, HK & SF
2 – Christina Topacio – Pro Fresh Style
3 – Maggie Alhadeff – Mimosas in Bed
4 – Mira Torres – The Beauty Bohemian
5 – Nicole Lindgren – Style Bust
6 – Ranier Falco – The Falco
7 – Siv Lam – Jcrewaholics

These awesome bloggers will touch topic points such as:
1. How did you start as a fashion blogger? What was the idea behind your blog?
2. Why is fashion a worth while subject to blog (write) about?
3. How do you engage with your readers or followers? What tools of communications work? How do you maintain an ongoing discussion?
4. Is there a current or a possible revenue stream being utilized? Ie:
Affiliate Marketing, Link Exchange, Banner Advertisement? Does it work?
5. What other social media tools do you use often to promote your
blog? ie: Twitter, Facebook, Four Square. Can you tell us, what works
and what doesn’t?
6. What do you think of mobile technology? Is this tool being utilized with your blogging?
7. How do you differentiate your blog from other fashion blogs?

If you want to be there (on my behalf), you can RSVP at http://www.facebook.com/events/create.php?eid=113522138711135 and check out the event site at http://fashiontwitup.onsugar.com/
Afterwards, check out the Jet Lag after party if you still want to hang out!

Go fashion bloggers go,

Pret-A-Porter San Francisco 2010 Review

SFFAMA had been promoting its Pret-A-Porter San Francisco event for a while before I abruptly decided to check it out last Saturday at Press Club. Sponsored by the club, 7×7, Elizabeth Arden: Red Door, and SF Indie Fashion, the fashion show was a delightful eye-opener for me to see a glimpse of what San Francisco fashion designers are capable of.

West Coast Leather and Vayaro presented a nicely constructed array of leather jackets and badass bags and purses. The feeling is equal parts rock star and cool, and the models were successful in bringing out the awesomeness of this collection.
