Anne Sofie Madsen presented her Spring/Summer 2016 collection on Tuesday, September 29 at Espace Commines (17 rue Commines, 75003 Paris). This marked her 2nd showing at Paris Fashion Week official calendar. Photos: Courtesy of Totem Fashion.

I have been captivated by Anne Sofie Madsen designs since last year; it’s like love at first sight. And it’s gratifying to see her designs getting more refined each time. And yet, Ms. Madsen’s signature philosophical juxtaposition – that materializes beautifully in each garment – remains. For the Spring / Summer 2016 “Come Undressed” collection, she explores “the struggle between the confessed desire to dress and the un-confessed desire of undress.”

The Danish designer once again embodies something private, vulnerable, yet powerful and seductive. Soft layering of organza, draped denim, and light wool create the story of Anne Sofie Madsen women who are constantly pulled in two opposing mindsets.

The flasher coats, first seen on Anne Sofie Madsen Resort 2016 collection, are my favorite piece of the collection. They are the perfect envelope to the myriad of layers; from flowing delicate lace dresses, transparent latex with floral embroideries, knits, to more structured pieces.

All in all, it’s another slam dunk for Anne Sofie Madsen. While many of us can relate to the feeling of both guarding and exposing oneself, I believe not many designers can translate that into garments and outfits as well as Ms. Madsen has been able to do.
