First of all, let me apologize for nearly two months of no blog updates. I will explain that on the next blog post. For now, I want to express my admiration to Cheay Rochelle’s Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, aptly titled Victorian Nobility. The clean lines and tapestry print cleanly brings out the vintage romance feel in the garments’ modern structures.

With Victorian Nobility, Ms. Rochelle wants to take us on a journey along the modern Victorian road, where New York meets Britain. The outfits are feminine and romantic, but not overly girly. Instead, they are sharp and possess the right amount of edginess inside the romantic realm. I am thoroughly impressed. Even though I heard about this collection from Divine Influence PR early this month, I just had to feature this collection on my blog. I don’t care if it’s late. If you haven’t known about this collection, I hope you love them like I do.

You can see Cheay Rochelle’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection below. The soft satins and tapestry materials in calm ivory and cream tones are balanced with bronze and gold for that romantic vintage, sexy but nostalgic feel.

My favorite pieces are the Vine Print Leggings that feature solid/tapestry blocking that wraps around your legs, the Victoria Da Love gown with corset gathering detail and peplum style (I love that from a distance, it looks like a luxurious modern piece of batik garment), and Vein Delora Flare, the youthful tapestry cocktail dress with sweetheart neckline and high/low hem.

For those new to the brand (me included), Cheay Rochelle is a Caribbean-American fashion designer who was born in Montego Bay Jamaica and raised in Brooklyn, New York with a West Indian family heritage. In 2006, Cheay received the senior’s best fashion designer award, and was also recognized by The Young Entrepreneur Organization Society in New York for the ability to start up a successful business in fashion and marketing. In 2009, she first launched her full women’s collection titled “Sweet Drams”. She has been featured in fashion publications such as Vogue, Elle, and Zink. Pretty remarkable, eh?

Ms. Rochelle stated, “I wanted to create something that was avant-garde, and stood out from what’s already out there.”
“Think royalty meets modern-day fashion, but with a twist.”
