The Ground Zero Fall/Winter 2015 collection looks like an exciting high-speed highway chase presented in high-fashion manner. Eri and Philip Chu of Zero Laboratory presented their latest creations during Paris Fashion Week on March 3, 2015 at 5 rue du Mail (Paris 2e). It’s high-octane girl power; rebellious and bold, yet still feminine and playful. As the brothers put it, seeing the collection is to “fantasize your ultimate sensation to a motorcycle racing held on an off-road runway in Paris.”

The fantasy is realized through use of technical fabrics, irregular cuts inspired by motor gears, and shiny fabrics amplified with patterns and prints, and nostalgic 1980s silhouettes. These garments are athletic-looking, and yet the lavish textures and jacquard details keep them in perfect balance of sports-luxe vibe. The vibrant colors are energizing, and the use of Bmx lingos and scribbled lettering such as “Rebel Youth” and “Romance Generation” makes the sporty collection all the more obvious, wrapped in a sense of retro romanticism. I personally find the cozy long-sleeve sweater of Marlboro-design lookalike with “Addicted Anyway” text is especially cheeky.

Ground Zero x b+ab Collaboration Collection

The label also did a collaboration with the Hong Kong brand b+ab titled “You + Me = Awesome.” The objective is to bring the edgy heritage of Ground Zero to high-street sensibility of b+ab’s youth market in mind. The garments use Ground Zero prints with b+ab silhouettes. The label has gained a big following in Asia, particularly Hong Kong and China, and is also available on UK’s ASOS online store.
