On July 7, 2015, Syrian designer Rami Al Ali presents his 20-piece couture collection at the Empire Room, La Maison Champs Elysees (8 Rue Jean Goujon, 75008 Paris). It was glamorous and elegant, capturing the iconic looks from 1940s and 1950s with art deco flair.

The vintage-inspired collection is breath taking; pastel shades of rose pink, powder blue, dove grey, champagne, and beige shine the brightest with the floor-length gowns. However, the cocktail-length dresses feel just as glamorous, with curved contours, coquettish pleats projecting from the hips of a bouncy circle skirts. Rami Al Ali’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection is spot on in capturing the decadence and luxurious nature of Hollywood’s golden era, while keeping the shapes modern with bold cuts, capes, and intricate beadwork embellishments.

The ultra femininity has been Rami Al Ali‘s design aesthetic. He had his breakthrough in 2009, when his Spring/Summer couture collection graced the runway at Rome’s AltaRoma couture week. After showing his collection for six consecutive seasons, Rami Al Ali was then named one of the top 50 most influential Arabs by The Middle East Magazine.

His designs have been worn by celebrities, such as Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Kerry Washington, and Chanel Iman. His debut at Paris Haute Couture Week happened in January 2012, when he showcased his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Fall/Winter 2015 marks his 8th consecutive presentation in Paris, and I believe we will see much more of his talents in the future.
