Handkerchief Dress

Handkerchief-Dress-Linen-Fafafoom-Project

In a Nutshell

Using only pre-used household linens, this handkerchief dress is inspired by a 1977 Family Circle magazine’s “Instant Dresses” article, as well as traditional Korean hanbok’s empire waist style and Issey Miyake’s handkerchief skirt style.

The garment features deep in-seam pockets and multiple styling options. The seams are secured with overlocking machine, as well as hand stitching techniques for cleaner, detailed finish.

Key Materials

The main materials for this DIY Fashion project were two sheets of 48″ x 84″ linen curtains with cotton lining. Industrial sewing machine sewing, an overlocking machine, and hand stitching tools complete the tool list.
