There are times when you’re left with a lot of leftover holiday decorations that you just ended up staring at for the longest time during spring cleaning (or summer cleaning, or fall cleaning, or winter cleaning — it’s up to you). For me, it was a sparkly silver branches decoration leftover from last Christmas.

So one day, I thought about making a headband from the branch’s sparkly silver leaves; a little bit Grecian and girly, but a bit more grown up. I named it Agnes Headband.

Agnes headband materials consist of:

1. A simple black headband
   You can use your old plastic headband, wrap it in ribbon if you want to “prettify” it. I did wrap mine with black ribbon from end to end. Make sure to note what’s the safe distance between the edges of the headband and where the leaves should start.
2. Super glue
   Simply your best friend for sticking stuff. Be careful not to glue your fingers.
3. A piece of thick paper
   About twice as thick as regular copy paper for the leaves’ base.
4. Shredded Cotton pads
   For added paddings between the paper and plastic leaves. Make sure they’re invisible.
5. Individual plastic sparkly, silver leaves from the Christmas decoration
   I divided them into 3 sizes; used the biggest ones as the base, surrounding all edges, then the middle sized ones on top of it for “cushion”, and then the smallest ones forming a nice line in the headband’s “spine”.

And voila! Here it is:

After having Agnes Headband for a spin at Union St. boutiques (one shop keeper asked me where she can buy the headband), I decided to have a photoshoot with it (titled “Runaway Lover”) at a random curve in Hwy 35. I really loved the huge tree and wanted to take pictures with it (thank you Christian for the wonderful pictures).

So after a week of wardrobe contemplation, black french tulle purchase, and whatevs makeup, we drove to that random Highway 35 curve one weekend and just tried not to spook any random car drivers.
