I’ve never been a fan of denim on denim look, although that particular trend always finds itself back year after year after year. Call me old-fashioned if you will, but denim on denim look is best suited for a person with solid physical stamina and strength, slaving under the sun daily at a gold mine somewhere.

Me? Well, let’s say I’m currently very much removed from that concept :) Therefore, I was ready to dismiss the entire thing once and for all.

And one day, I saw a vintage black and white photograph of Ralph Lauren wearing denim on denim on denim. Denim jacket on top of a denim button-down shirt, with jeans. I was simply mesmerized. How could he look so stylish and cool with outfit pieces that were so….gold-mine-ish? Needless to say, from that moment on, I was waiting for the right time to try the denim on denim look. Just once is enough.

On Saturday, June 23, the occasion finally arrived. We planned to go to Chillin’ Production later that night (we did went, it was great), but we wanted to do a little walking down the Battery Boutelle trail. Not wanting to change clothes from day to night, I opted for this denim on denim outfit. For the “rough” terrain, I had to switch out my boots to this hiking shoes, but the rest was intact from day to night :)

This photo shoot was totally accidental (the ruin settings were just too cool, it’d be a waste to pass up the opportunity for a mini session with), and I was so happy with the pictures that I just wanted to blog it. Aside from cropping, all pictures did not go any edits. Keeping it natural is the way to go for this one, I think.

Outfit Details: Rachel Pally shirt, white tank from L.A. Fashion District somewhere, Sisley shorts; knitted beret from H&M, Target sunglasses, Fred Flare necklace, Takashimaya tights (Nagoya, Japan), and Salomon shoes. “Oui” bag from one of Japanese fashion magazines several years ago. I forgot where I got that belt.

What do you think? Did I pull it off? And wasn’t the last picture of us cute or what?

Stay awesome everyone, have a great day,
